Leah G. Bailey
Raised in Savannah, Leah Giroux Bailey knew from an early age that she wanted to be an interior designer. “One day we had a career fair when I was in the fifth grade. I dressed up as what I thought an interior designer looked like, with big jewelry and cork boards with fabric. I thought designers wore big jewelry.” remarks Leah. After graduating with a BFA in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Leah began working for local companies Creative Stone and Garden State Tile. It is through these businesses that she earned the ins and outs of construction and practical application of design from behind the scenes. “It was the best experience I could have received.”
Leah began LGB Interiors, LLC more than five years ago, working as an interior designer for homes at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC, and at the Landings on Skidaway Island, along with residential projects throughout the area. After becoming pregnant with her second child, Leah decided she needed to expand her business to accommodate her expanding career and growing family. “It just wasn’t practical for me to drive to the Atlanta Decorative Art Center (ADAC) to source out products for a client, only to turn around two days later to return them. I needed to have all my resources locally.” She had been conceptualizing the Design House for some time as a local hub for designers to source out products and rent space, but was cautious about moving forward on her own in a slowing economy.
Leah felt that other like-minded designers could-and would-be able to sustain and share their talents, and the Design House emerged as an innovative concept in the interior design industry.
